CELPIP results: timing, score reports and validity
CELPIP’s results page says scores appear in your account in 2–4 business days, with an email when they are ready and a PDF score report to download. Scores are valid for two years from the report’s issue date; confirm current timing and requirements on celpip.ca.
How many days do CELPIP results take?
CELPIP’s results page gives a window of 2–4 business days. Its Test Day Information page says 3 to 4 business days. We checked both on 2026-10-19 using the results snapshot from 2026-09-13 and the test-day snapshot from 2026-10-04. Confirm the current wording on celpip.ca, especially if you have a deadline close to the test date.
Keep the business-day wording in your plan. Do not replace it with a promise that results will arrive a fixed number of hours after you finish. The two published windows also give you no basis for assuming that the earliest stated day is guaranteed.
Write your intended document deadline beside the test date before booking. Leave room to check the report and resolve questions instead of planning to use it the instant an email arrives. This is a planning suggestion, not a statement that CELPIP offers a particular delivery deadline for your sitting.
Email notification and the PDF score report
According to CELPIP’s results page, you receive an email when scores are ready, and you view them in your CELPIP Account. The official score report is a PDF download; hard copies have been discontinued. Keep the notification and the report separate in your records so you can find the actual document when needed.
Once results are available, download the PDF and check the identifying details, component levels and report date. Save it with a filename that helps you distinguish it from practice results or an earlier sitting. Open the saved file once to make sure you can read it, rather than assuming a download completed correctly.
CELPIP says scores remain viewable online for two years from the test date.ca. Downloading your report promptly avoids relying on future account access when you are assembling documents later.
Read the component levels before the average
CELPIP’s results information uses levels 0–12, plus NA. For levels 3–12, CELPIP level N corresponds to CLB N; level 2 corresponds to CLB 1–2. CELPIP’s FAQ says there is no pass or fail. Whether a result meets a requirement depends on the purpose and the required abilities.
The FAQ also says the report’s “Average Score” is not used by IRCC and is not a CLB level. Write down each component result separately before comparing it with a requirement. A stronger result in one skill should not lead you to overlook a lower result in another when the requirement specifies each ability.
Use the CELPIP score chart to understand the level labels and how CELPIP is scored to distinguish comprehension scoring from Speaking and Writing assessment. For your own study notes, attach a practical observation to each skill, such as unfinished responses or difficulty following changes of opinion.
Two-year validity and Express Entry requirements
CELPIP’s results page says scores are valid for two years from the date the score report is issued. It separately describes online viewing for two years from the test date. These periods start from different dates, so keep both dates in your records.ca.
| Question | Source and stated period |
|---|---|
| How long can I view scores online? | CELPIP: two years from the test date |
| How long are scores valid? | CELPIP: two years from the report issue date |
| What does Express Entry require? | IRCC: results less than two years old when you apply |
IRCC’s Express Entry language-test page, modified 2026-10-16 and checked for this guide on 2026-10-19, states the less-than-two-years requirement. Check that official page for your application timing. For citizenship, consult IRCC’s citizenship language-proof page for accepted proof; do not assume an Express Entry rule answers every citizenship document question.
What to do after four business days
CELPIP’s FAQ says to contact them if scores have not been posted after four business days. It lists possible reasons including extra review, a reported issue or identity checks. Those are possible explanations, not a diagnosis of your account. A delay alone does not establish what level you received or why your result is pending.
First check your CELPIP Account and the email address you used for registration. If results are still absent after the published period, prepare a concise enquiry with your test date and registration details. Describe what you can see in the account and ask what follow-up is needed. Avoid sending several different explanations based on guesses about the delay.
If the problem concerns something that happened during the test, a different deadline applies: CELPIP’s Test Day Information says to report issues in the account within 24 hours. Do not wait for scores before reporting a test-day issue. The test-day guide covers that step.
Re-evaluation deadlines, fees and refund wording
CELPIP’s results and policy pages allow a re-evaluation request within six months of the test date, with a fee paid when applying. The fee depends on the components. You can request one re-evaluation per component; the purchase is final sale, and results take about one to two weeks.ca.
The refund wording differs between those pages. The results page describes a fee refund for a component whose level changes. The policies page describes a refund when a Speaking or Writing level increases. Check the applicable wording with CELPIP before paying, and budget without assuming a refund.
CELPIP says Listening and Reading re-evaluation is unlikely to change a result because those components are computer-rated. For Speaking or Writing, compare the request with the alternative of more preparation and another sitting. Neither your confidence nor a practice estimate establishes that an official score will change.
Turn the report into a specific next step
Make a short record with three entries for each component: your official level, the requirement you have checked and the practice problem you can actually observe. If you need stronger Writing, for example, identify whether your recent drafts omitted requested points or lacked clear development. A report level alone does not tell you which sentence habit to change.
Use sample questions to review unfamiliar task types, then make a fresh attempt before reading an answer. Compare your work with the prompt and record one change to practise. Keep unofficial practice estimates separate from the PDF report throughout this review.
If you are deciding between re-evaluation and another sitting, read the retake policy guide alongside the conditions above. Consider time, the fee and what you remember about your performance. Choose an action you can explain from that evidence, without treating either route as a promise of a higher result.
