How it works

  1. Pick a task. All 8 Speaking tasks and both Writing tasks, with the real prep and response timers.
  2. Answer under time. Speak or type as you would on test day. Audio stays on your phone.
  3. Get your estimate. A level range, the four criteria, your top fix in your own words, and a model answer to compare.
  4. Re-record and track. Try again straight away and watch your estimated level against your target CLB.

How our AI scoring works, and what it cannot do

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official CELPIP practice test?

No. CLB Mock is an unofficial practice resource and is not affiliated with Paragon Testing Enterprises or Prometric. CELPIP itself offers free official practice tests on celpip.ca.

How does the AI score my speaking?

Your phone converts speech to text on the device. The transcript and timing measurements are scored against the four CELPIP speaking criteria, and you get an estimated level range. Pronunciation is not heard, so Listenability is only estimated.

Is the website practice free?

Yes. The practice sets, timers, score calculator and guides on this site are free and need no account.

When is the app available?

The Android app is on Google Play now and free to try. The iPhone app is still in review; until then you can use the free practice on this site on any phone.
